Our First Intern: Preston’s Market Analyst Experience

This year we welcomed Preston as our first Market Analyst intern, officially launching our internship program at Seaward Automation. He joined with limited real-world experience but quickly became a productive member of the team.

During his first six months, Preston came into the shop twice a week while balancing his course load at UConn. One of his first projects was creating a terminology list for marine automation, which helped him learn the industry and built a reference guide that future team members can use. He also supported our trade show preparation by researching exhibitors and competitors so we could target the right conversations at each event.

Preston attended multiple shows during his internship, including the Hartford Boat Show and the West Palm Beach Boat Show during his spring break. These events gave him hands-on exposure to customer conversations, booth operations, and live demos. By the end of each show, he was confidently speaking with builders, captains, and potential partners about the Command Platform.

During his Spring 2025 semester, Preston worked in a hybrid format, coming into the office when possible and completing research and data aggregation projects remotely. He continued to support our market preparation for the winter events ahead.

Overall, Preston added real value during a critical growth phase for Seward Automation. His work strengthened our market intelligence efforts, improved our event strategy, and gave him the kind of hands-on industry experience that will set him apart as he moves into his career.
